Meet your Instructor

I’ve been a certified court reporter and caption provider for 12 years.
I started my training as a steno writer. I found school very challenging being a single mom of two boys and working a full-time job.
After 4 1/2 years struggling to learn steno and anxious to start my new career, I heard about voice writing. I was amazed! The more I learned about voice writing technology, the more intrigued and obsessed I became!
I attended Realtime Voice Academy and was trained by an amazing woman, Dessa VanSchuyver, also known as the Dragon Lady. After three months of voice writer training with Dessa, I was certified with the National Verbatim Reporters Association (NVRA.) In 2021, I got my RCP-M, Realtime Caption Provider, certification.
My career started in Georgia. Georgia offers a rich variety of experience and opportunity for court reporters. I was fortunate enough to meet Judge Charles Auslander, III who mentored me. In 2014, my husband and I moved to North Carolina. I was an official court reporter for NC for almost 6 years. In 2020, I decided to become a caption provider.
It wasn’t long after working as a voice stenographer that I began noticing common problem areas in the voice steno community. I developed a successful system that worked for me and greatly improved my skills and my work product. I began sharing this process with my trainer and mentor, as well as with my friends and colleagues. They began to have great success too!
I began crafting a course that would reinvent how voice writing is taught. I’m thrilled to have worked with so many wonderful students and colleagues!
Let’s build something together.
